Yesterday, I attended the SCORP meeting -- the State Comprehensive Outdoor
Recreation Plan. The state is required to revise this plan every 5 years
under the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act.
About 50 groups/agencies were invited and 17 attended. The function of
this committee is to assess the supply of and demand for outdoor recreation
resources and to define priorities for actions. We are to assess public
needs and desires for outdoor recreation service and facilities.
I am supposed to provide the DNR within a day or two, our list of
priorities and issues and/or concerns.
Please send me your list by e-mail to [log in to unmask] -- or share it
with the others by replying to all.
Issues might be competition between uses, or land uses/abuses, financial
resources, awareness, communication, leadership, etc.
Priorities might be different kinds of recreation, forming partnerships,
facilities, protection, etc.
Thanks,
Jane Clark
