There is an article in the Gazette (today's, I believe, or Sunday) about
how a proposed Iowa City commission on recycling will likely be dissolved
because only one person (Janelle Rettig of Alternatives) has volunteered
to be appointed to the seven-person group.
The council will take the issue up tomorrow, Tuesday, at its regular
evening meeting. I am considering asking to join, if the group can be
revived. However, I think that in the long-run the city needs a commission
that can take on more and/or broader environmental issues, especially
since the riverfront and natural areas commission was dissolved.
In any case, if you are an Iowa Citian have any interested in being the
commission or know of someone who might, please have them get in touch
with me or urge them to contact the council to give us citizens another
chance to get this commission going.
Thanks, Becky
