The following is the description of the purpose of this listserve:

*  The IOWA-TOPICS list is a combination Alerts, Legislative, Meetings
and
*  Outings Announcements and a general discussion list. It is open to
any
*  subscriber. Any message relating to the environment or the Iowa
Chapter
*  itself is welcome to be posted to the list.

Shelia Bosworth (administrator of this list or "listowner") and I have
decided to add Sierra Club group leaders and Sierra Club actitivist to
this listserve. I have contacted all of the group leaders by email and
discussed this with them. They will let me know if they don't want to be
added to the listserve. The activists will be added next. When these
people are added, notices will be posted on this listserve letting
everyone know that this has been done and the directions on how to
unsubscribe.

This listserve has been operating for awhile and has evolved into one
that provides information on issues and alerts on actions needed to
affect decision makers. Because this list is being used this way,  the
addition of Sierra Club Group leaders and Sierra Club activists is
appropriate.
