I am posting this schedule so you can mark your calendar for meetings in
your area.  These meetings are open to the public and there is an
opportunity for comment, usually at 10:30 a.m.  It is also possible to
comment on specific agenda items.  It's always good to have Sierrans in
attendance.  This commission deals with natural resource issues such as
parks, preserves, wildlife areas, state forests, endangered and threatened
species, wildlife and hunting, fishing, etc.  They do not deal with water
quality, air quality, waste, etc.

The meetings are usually on the second Thursday and usually begin at 8:30
a.m.  The location of the meeting will be announced a few weeks before the

The Natural Resource Commission of the DNR will not meet in January.  The
commission will resume its monthly meetings on Feb. 14 in Des Moines.  The
commission approved the following meeting schedule for 2002.

· Feb. 14 in Des Moines
· March 14 at the Ames Nursery
· April no meeting
· May 9 in Creston
· June 13 in Sioux City
· July no meeting
· Aug. 8 in Clear Lake
· Sept. 12 in Maquoketa
· Oct. 10 in Carroll
· Nov. 14 at the Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge
· Dec. 12 in Des Moines
