Please join several members of the Leopold Group for a
strategy planning meeting on Concentrated Animal Feeding
Operations and their associated problems on Tue. Aug. 13,
7:15PM in Mt. Pleasant. We will meet at the Subway
restaurant on the north side of the square, order subs and
probably migrate to the picnic tables on the same side of
the square.
Moratoriums on new CAFOs have been recommended by two
Boards of Health in the Leopold area and several citizens
groups have been supporting or proposing such actions in at
least 4 Leopold area counties. We will discuss plans to
form a coalition with thes groups, review news from other
counties on this issue and discuss short-term and longterm
strategies. We will also finalize plans for an upcoming
Sierra Club public meeting on Responsible Livestock
Production scheduled for Thur. Sept 26, 7:45PM in Frienship
Hall of the First Presbyterian Church in New London
