I emailed a letter of objection to the DNR sometime last summer stating that
the low traffic volume on the road did not warrant moving the road and
disrupting the bird habitat along the proposed reroute. Another reason to
move the road was there wasn't adequate room to move the snow back. The fact
that the road is gravel which automatically reduces speed on a low traffic
road and the snow excuse seemed like a pretty lame excuse to spend thousands
to move the road and wreck a bird habitat. So if they are going to do it
anyway, it is better to have a timber sale than to just bulldoze the trees
into a pile and torch it with diesel fuel. Incidentally, I never received a
reply to my email.
