Dear Water Activists,
The EPA received about 115,000 comments (including thousands of postcards,
faxes, emails and letters from Sierra Club members) in response to their
Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, in which the described their plan
to re-evaluate which waters are covered by the Clean Water Act. Thanks to
all of your hard work and the work of other concerned citizens, the huge
majority of these comments (I have heard estimates of over 90%) were in
favor of maintaining protection over small streams, ponds and 'isolated'
wetlands, waters which have been protected by the Clean Water Act for 25
years!
In addition, 11 national environmental groups submitted detailed legal
and scientific comments (more than 150 pages).
Again, thank you for all of your help!!
Have a great day,
Ananda D. Hirsch
