Sierra Club members and other environmental activists: please CIRCULATE THIS
WIDELY
Vice President Cheney will be in Sioux City this Friday afternoon on a
campaign
stop at Morningside College. Join other Sierra Club members as we
demonstrate to bring attention to this administration's assaults on our
environment!
We will be focusing on the administration's disastrous energy policies and
mercury proposal, because the comment period for the mercury proposal ends
June 30th and because Sioux City is home to two of the state's dirtiest coal
power plants.
Who:
Sierra Club members
What:
Press conference and rally to protest the Bush Administration's rollbacks of
the laws protecting Iowa's communities from toxic mercury and other air and
water pollution.
When:
Friday, June 25th at 12:45 PM.
Where:
Meet up in front of Morningside's Clocktower, across from the George M.
Allee Gymnasium (3415 Peters Avenue) where Cheney will be speaking. For a
map of Morningside's campus, see
http://www.morningside.edu/morningside/campus_map/index.cfmat
We'll have signs and banners, but feel free to make your own reading
"Bush Administration - putting Iowa's communities at risk" "Protect people,
not polluters", "Enforce the clean air act" "Enforce the clean water act"
"Protect Iowans from Mercury Pollution" etc. and write Sierra Club at the
bottom if you
can.
Wear Sierra Club gear if you've got it! If you plan to attend, and would
like a snappy Sierra Club water sentinels t-shirt to wear (and keep!)
contact me ahead of time and I'll bring one for you.
If you need more information, contact me at the number below or on my cell
phone at (515) 201-7429.
