The Bush Administration recently announced its intention to continue
dismantling historic wild forest protections - one state at a time. With
its most recent announcement, the Administration took an axe to the Roadless
Rule. Governors will now have to petition the federal government to protect
wild, roadless, national forests.
We need to educate Iowans about this latest Bush administration assault on
our environmental protections before the public comment period ends on
September 14th. Please volunteer to submit a letter to the editor to the
Register or your local daily paper - we have several already written that I
can email to you for your submission, either as is, or with whatever
alterations you'd like. You can choose to submit it as a Sierra Club member
or just a concerned citizen.
This can have a big impact getting the word out about the newest threat to
our national forests, and it only takes a few minutes to send in a letter.
Let me know if you can help!
Thanks,
Tarah Heinzen
