In our third featured film: Unconstitutional: The War on Our Civil
Liberties, Filmmaker Robert Greenwald demonstrates to the viewer the extent
to which our civil liberties and our freedoms have been trampled upon by our
government since 9/11. Director and producer Nonny de la Pena, explores how
the Patriot Act has taken away checks on law enforcement and continues to
endanger the civil liberties of all Americans. Uncontitutional is a chilling
look at how the Patriot Act went too far, too fast in restricting important
liberties while not making us any safer. By focusing on the personal stories
of real people, Uncontitutional aims to reveal how paranoia, fear and racial
profiling have led to gross infringements on freedom and democracy without
strengthening national security.
Ben Stone, executive director of the Iowa Civil Liberties Union will
facilitate discussion after the movie.
"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time and your government when
it deserves it."
--Mark Twain
A strong democracy depends on informed citizens who are willing to question
government policies and tell their leaders when they agree or disagree.
