Iowa is proposing rules that would increase protections in small streams. 
These protections would help us meet the standard of fishable and swimable in the Clean Water Act.
This paragraph was submitted to the Des Moines Register as letter to the editor. 

The Iowa Water Pollution Control Association thinks that it is going to be too expensive to clean up Iowas polluted streams. I think that is a amazing that the very same professionals that are trained on how to clean up waste water think that it is going to cost to much to protect Iowas neighborhood and backyard streams.  For over thirty years waste water treatments plants of small cities In Iowa have been allowed to dump their pollution into small streams.  For thirty years we have tried to get around the Clean Water Act. All streams in Iowa should be given the protection that allows our citizens to fish and be protected from disease.  Those people that pollute the streams should pay to clean it up. When we let anyone dump their pollution into our streams all Iowans pay the price of having dirty water.  Shame on those professionals that believe the cost of clean neighborhood and backyard streams is too expensive.
