Sierra Club is joining with other members of the Clean Water Network on a
national Clean Water Call-In Day on September 26th.

Please let me know at [log in to unmask] if you can help with this issue or
if you take action. If you would like more information about this issue,
contact me.

We need calls to all of our Iowa Congressmen, especially Boswell, Braley and
Loebsach.

Please call your Representative's office on Wednesday, September 26. Tell
the receptionist that you want your Representative to co-sponsor the Clean
Water Restoration Act, H.R. 2421. Make sure you let them know that you live
in your Representative's district. That's all you have to say. Every voice
counts!

NATIONAL CLEAN WATER CALL-IN DAY
September 26, 2007

PLEASE URGE YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS TO CO-SPONSOR THE CLEAN WATER
RESTORATION ACT (H.R. 2421)

The Bush administration is using some bad Supreme Court decisions to exclude
small streams and "isolated" wetlands from Clean Water Act protections. If
these waters are not protected, polluters can dump waste into them and
developers can pave them over without any Clean Water Act oversight.

This fall, Congress is likely to consider the Clean Water Restoration Act,
which would close these loopholes and restore clean water protections to all
the nation's waters. This will be one of the most important clean water
votes in years.

But polluters and developers are working overtime to stop the Clean Water
Restoration Act. We need to contact our Representative to stand up to them
and co-sponsor this critical bill.

So please act now. Join us on September 26th for a national "clean water
phone Congress Day". Call your Representative's office. Tell the
receptionist that you want your Representative to co-sponsor the Clean Water
Restoration Act, H.R. 2421. Make sure you let them know that you live in
your Representative's district. That's all you have to say. Every voice
counts!

To reach your Representative's office, call the Capitol switchboard at
202-224-3121. Or you can also call your Representative's district office.
To find that number, go to
http://www.congress.org. Enter your zip code. Click on your federal
Representative, and you'll find local phone numbers.

Thank you for your help.

Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007 - H.R. 2421

Restoring broad protection to our nation's waters:
Since the passage of the Clean Water Act in 1972, we have made great
progress in cleaning up
our nation's waters. While much remains to be done, the law has protected
the nation's lakes,
rivers, streams and wetlands from unregulated pollution, filling and
destruction and our waters
are cleaner today because of it.

However, these protections are at risk of being lost, and Congress must act
now to stop these
attacks. The best solution is the Clean Water Restoration Act of 2007. This
legislation restores
the longstanding and broad scope of the Clean Water Act as Congress
intended.

Waters are at risk:
. Twenty million acres of the nation's wetlands (according to the EPA);
. Small streams, representing almost 2 million river miles;
. Some of these small streams that contribute to the public drinking water
supplies of more
than 110 million people.
