To: Sierra Club members and other interested citizens
The Sierra Club is continuing its efforts to protect the environment
this up coming legislative session. Here is a list of our top issues and
a very brief description. We encourage you to start a conversation with
your state representative and senator.
Energy
cutting emissions of greenhouse gasses and improving energy efficiency.
CAFO - Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation
Moratorium on CAFOs, Changing the matrix, Improving siting distances,
Rural economic development, Local control-health ordinances and land use
ordinances
Cougars
Increase protection by placing them on a fur-bearer list. This will
allow the DNR to protect them with hunting regulations.
Sustainable Natural Resource Funding
The Sierra Club supports a proposal by a legislative interim committee
established in 2006 . It is recommending a sales tax increase through an
amendment to the state constitution.
