REBUILD IOWA ADVISORY COMMISSION TO MEET, DEVELOP THE
REBUILD IOWA OFFICE 120-DAY REPORT

Commissioners to Convene Over Two Days - Nov. 6 and 7 - to Discuss
Information Gathered at RIAC and Task Force Meetings

(DES MOINES, IOWA) - The Rebuild Iowa Advisory Commission will meet over two
days in West Des Moines for the sole purpose of discussing and working on
the Rebuild Iowa Office's 120-Day Report. The Commission will present the
report to Gov. Chet Culver on Nov. 17.

The RIAC, which consists of 15 members and two ex-officio representatives,
will convene on Nov. 6 and 7 at the Sheraton West Des Moines Hotel. The
commissioners chair nine task forces focused on specific issues that help
develop recommendations to support the state's strategic recovery and
rebuilding process following this year's devastating storms and flooding.

Over the past two months, the RIAC met and commissioners helped lead several
task force meetings to further discuss the subsequent recommendations in the
45-Day Report, with the goal of identifying long-term recovery planning
strategies.

Earlier this summer, the task forces held public meetings to discuss issues
surrounding housing, economic and workforce development, infrastructure and
transportation, agriculture and environment, education, long-term recovery,
floodplain and hazard mitigation, public health and healthcare, and cultural
heritage and records retention. The information, concerns and ideas gathered
at these meetings, as well as the RIAC meetings and "Speak Up Iowa!" public
input sessions held across the state, helped the Commission shape an initial
45-Day Report, which was presented to Gov. Culver on Sept. 2.

Lt. Governor Patty Judge is executive director of the Rebuild Iowa Office,
which coordinates all state recovery activities. Major General Ron Dardis of
the Iowa National Guard serves as the Commission's chairman.
