Power Fund Committee Meets to plan for Iowa's Energy Independence

The Iowa Power Fund Board's Planning Committee will hold a facilitated 
discussion regarding the 2009 Energy Independence Plan.  The committee will 
discuss specific strategy options to promote Iowa's renewable energy, energy 
efficiency, and biofuels industries.  Public comment opportunities are 
available for each area.


"It is vital to Iowa's economy, environment, and energy security to include 
all Iowans in planning for the future," said Roya Stanley, Director of the 
Office of Energy Independence.  "We are looking forward to an active 
discussion that will identify and prioritize policy options and strategies 
to achieve energy independence in Iowa."

The Office of Energy Independence (OEI) sets the strategic direction for 
Iowa's clean energy future by identifying goals to achieve desired results. 
The office will align state government efforts for achieving energy 
independence through partnerships with business and industry, community 
leaders, government and public agencies, and other stakeholders.
