ENERGYNEWSWIRE
IOWA OFFICE OF ENERGY INDEPENDENCE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 22, 2010

STATE ENERGY EFFICIENCY APPLIANCE REBATE PROGRAM REGISTRATION UPDATE

The [Iowa] Office of Energy Independence (OEI) announces updated information
regarding the State of Iowa Energy Efficiency Appliance Rebate program. A
program-specific rebate registration web site and toll-free number are now
available for consumers and retailers to review at:
www.IowaApplianceRebate.com and by calling 1-877-267-7495. These are also
available for review on the OEI Web site at: www.energy.iowa.gov . Consumers
will not be able to reserve a rebate until March 1, 2010 at 8:00 AM by
calling the number or visiting the site.

Part of the Federal economic stimulus, the Iowa EEARP, will offer
approximately 9,000 Iowa homeowners a rebate for replacing their old
appliance with a qualifying energy efficient model purchased from an Iowa
retailer.

“We anticipate that each Iowan who participates in this program will be able
to save hundreds of dollars over the life of their new and more efficient,
appliance,” said Roya Stanley, Director of the Iowa Office of Energy
Independence. “Buying and using energy efficient appliances helps consumers
save money while at the same time they are creating jobs and boosting the
economy.”

The rebate program is open to Iowa residents only and rebate dollars are
available on a first come first served basis. Rebates will only be eligible
from the approved appliance list and purchases must be made on or after
March 1, 2010.

We urge consumers and retailers to review the rebate program eligibility and
frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) at:
www.energy.iowa.gov/files/ARQAforConsumers.pdf, and the appliance guidelines
at: www.energy.iowa.gov/files/ProductGuidelineRebates2152010.pdf.
