Lois Norrgard of Alaska Wilderness League will be the speaker at the Wed.
October 20 meeting of the Central Iowa Group.
The speaker for our Central Iowa Wed. September 15 meeting at 7 p.m.
(tomorrow night) is Marlene Ehresman, director of the new Iowa Wildlife
Center that will be located in Boone County near Ledges State Park.
Preceding Marlene's program, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and beverages beginning at
6:30 p.m. while bidding takes place for our annual silent auction
fundraiser. Help us celebrate at this event that funds most of our
activities and conservation projects for the coming year.

The Arctic is all around us. Every year, birds that begin their lives on the
Coastal Plain o f the A rctic National Wildlife Refuge journey to all 50
states and across six continents, before heading back to the Arctic, where
the cycle of life begins again. Many of these birds come through our
backyards or make a stopover in your local National Wildlife Refuge. (To the
left is an illustration of these migratory paths.)
As we mark the 50th anniversary of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, we
must do everything we can to be sure that this last wild haven remains for
generations to come. There are a number of ways in which you can help
celebrate our connections to the Arctic Refuge throughout this year
