To: Lou, et al Rep. Witt, and others in the House, remain opposed to SF 2371 as it came from the Senate. The environmental community does as well, at this point. While the bill as amended in the Senate is much better than the original bill, many of our concerns were not address; indeed, many of he concerns expressed by the Federal EPA, in a letter to the Senate Natural Resources Committee, and which were the same as the Iowa DNR had expressed, were deliberately not addressed by the Senate Committee or floor action. Until those concerns by EPA/DNR, and our own as environmental organizations, are met the environmental community will not support SF 2371 as sent by the Senate to the House. Fundamentally, we want to be sure that volunteer date can be accepted as credible as it meets certain standards of data collection, and we want the TMDL list to be appropriately compiled using credible data from volunteer and professional data.
