I just received this notice about fundraising training -- If anyone is interested in attending, contact Mary Green at [log in to unmask] and you could also let me know at [log in to unmask] ==================================================== Jane, Could you please pass this on to any of your members in western Iowa who might be interested in coming to Lincoln for a Fundraising and Membership Training Workshop? Sorry about the extremely short notice; it was just suggested to me on Friday by one of the trainers that I invite neighboring chapters and it took a while to get your e-mail address. Please contact me with any questions. Mary Green, Chair, NE Chapter (402) 556-1830 Chapter Fundraising and Membership Training Saturday and Sunday, April 8 and 9, Lincoln, Nebraska The NE Chapter of the Sierra Club has invited the national Sierra Club Road Show to come to Lincoln to do a Fundraising and Membership Training with our chapter. We have some great people coming to do this workshop with us: Jeri Andrews of California, who is a past national Sierra Club membership chair, Allan Weaver of San Francisco who has a long history as a national Sierra Club staff person, including work in Fundraising, and Joan Denzer of New Jersey who has also held national leadership positions ( I think on the Finance Committee) as well as been Chapter Chair, RCC Chair, etc. The basic Road Show Fundraising Training includes a core curriculum which we will cover on Saturday. Our training will also include these modules: starting a fundraising committee and volunteer recruitment, membership recruitment, and fundraising through outings and events (these modules will be held on Saturday); and applying for grants, direct mail (March Window), and pledge and giving programs (these modules will be held on Sunday.) It is the intent of the training to come up with a fundraising plan by the end of the Saturday session, and then use the Sunday time for work on more specific issues for those who are interested in them. We hope that many of you will attend both days. This workshop will be held at the Ponca Tribal Offices, 1701 E. Street, Lincoln, NE (The building is on the SE corner of the intersection of 17th and E Streets, one block east and two blocks south of the state capitol building.) Registration on Saturday starts at 8:30, and the training will start promptly at 9 a.m., and end at 5 p.m. The Sunday workshop is scheduled from 9:30 to 12. If the weather is nice we may eat outside for lunch on Saturday, so you may want to bring a blanket to sit on. We plan to have lunch brought in to the meeting on Saturday. Please try to bring as many people from your groups as you can; this sounds like a great opportunity for us. And please let me know if you are coming and how many people you will be bringing so we can have an idea ahead of time.
