Here are 2 interesting notes from GREENLines, forwarded by Jane Clark -- be
sure to note the illegal take of the eagles.

GREENLines, Friday, April 28, 2000 from GREEN,

BUFFALO DRIVEN FROM TRADITIONAL CALVING GROUNDS: As part of its ongoing
hazing operations on Yellowstone buffalo, the Montana Dept. of
Livestock has driven some 60 pregnant cows and yearlings
off "traditional calving grounds" at Horse Butte in Gallatin NF, says
the Buffalo Field Campaign 4/26.

A helicopter used in the hazing was involved in illegally taking 3
threatened bald eagles who nest in the area. The hazing was done to keep
the buffalo off of 3 national forest grazing allotments which welfare
ranchers use for $750 a year. For updated daily information on MT DOL
buffalo hazing see http://www.wildrockies.org/buffalo/

FARMERS PART OF SOLUTION TO GLOBAL WARMING: ENS says a brochure showing
how sustainable farming practices can "keep more carbon in the soil"
and not allow it to escape into the atmosphere as carbon dioxide, one
of the main gases contributing to global warming, is available at
http://www.swcs.org/f_pubs_education.htm
