For your information:
Council Bluffs, IA is located in an area with a very unique topography
with hills made from
loess soil. There are only two such formations in the world, one in
China and one in southwest Iowa. These hills ranging from the Missouri
River to over 300 feet in places are blow dirt from the planes to the
west.
Council Bluffs is located next to Omaha, NE and the local officials
want
to expand the Council Bluffs airport. In doing so they will disturb the
loess hills, 100 year old oak wooded areas, habitat for wild turkeys,
geese, ducks, deer and other animals. The airport expansion is totally
unnecessary and is being done because local officials have a chance of a
20 million dollar federal grant from the FAA.
There is going to be an information meeting this coming Thursday
evening
on the project starting at 6:00 pm at the existing Council Bluffs airport
and would like to know if there may be some local members who may be
interested in participating and becoming involved in this project.
Thank you for your time,
Blake Redfield
