I think we ought to consider an alternatives to growth organization for Iowa. (See e-mail below, from Alternatives to Growth Oregon.) Growth in population and consumption of non-renewable resources is the root cause of all environmental problems. Yet it's taken as an undeniable first principle by politicians of both major parties--and by many other leaders--that Iowa needs to grow.
