EPA is about to publish an agreement with the United Egg Producers that would recognize egg production facilities -- no matter how large or how dirty -- as environmental leaders. It would also waive the individual Clean Water Act permitting requirements for these facilities, most of which have between 500,000 and 5 million birds. Many of these facilities have very serious environmental problems, including Buckeye in Ohio, DeCoster in Vermont, and Gates Brothers in North Carolina, but all will be hailed as leaders under the proposal about to go to press. Call Chuck Fox today to stop this travesty!. He can be reached at 202-260-5700. Tell him Individual Permits requiring public notice must be required to protect your community & your health. Cutting special deals for industry is not EPA's job -- EPA should bring these facilities into compliance, not exempt them from their environmental obligations. Demand the proposal be revoked -- don't even publish it! This proposal is scheduled to go forward this week, so please call today. Thanks.
