From Jane Clark at [log in to unmask] This note was sent by the Sierra Club's email systems manager to some people on November 14th. However, it did not come to the chapters. I have become aware of this virus in the last few days -- it is bouncing around on Sierra Club's lists. Please be alert and do NOT open an e-mail attachment named navidad.exe -- if you do it will evidently send the virus out to all those in your address file. To be safe, do NOT open any .exe file. This virus is extremely destructive and will attempt to erase your hard drive. Also, please note that every year at holiday time, .exe attachments are widely circulated. Files that end in .exe are programs that run on your computer. If an exe contains a virus, and it is executed (opened), it can be quite destructive. We recommend that you do not open any .exe file sent to you as an e-mail attachment unless you specifically requested the file. If you are curious, details about navidad.exe can be found at http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.navidad.html - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - To get off the IOWA-TOPICS list, send any message to: [log in to unmask]
