At the ISU Armstrong Research Farm sign on Highway 6, take county road M53 south 1/2 mile, then turn east (left) 1/2 mile. The SW Area Extension Office is at the Wallace Foundation Learning Center on the north side of the road at 53020 Hitchcock Avenue. The intersection of county road M53 and Highway 6 is located 12 miles west of Atlantic, 2.5 miles west of Highway 48 (from Griswold), 1.5 miles east of county road M47 (from I-80 at Walnut), and 11 miles east of Oakland. ---------- Lewis Presentation Speakers: Alan Teel is a native of Oklahoma with a B.S. from Oklahoma State University and an M.S. from Iowa State University. He taught Vocational Agriculture for 7 years in Oklahoma and Iowa and taught a Veterans Farm Coop course for the Des Moines Area Community College. Mr. Teel has been a County Extension Education Director with Iowa State University Extension for 26 years and has worked four five years as the watershed Switchgrass for Biomass project coordinator as an Agronomist. He has been married for 35.75 years to same woman, has two children and 3.3 grandchildren. Angela Chen is an Executive Officer for the Department, supervising the Energy Planning and Technology Transfer (EPTT) section of the Energy Bureau. Prior to becoming an Executive Officer in 1998, Ms. Chen was the Bureau¹s Senior Engineer for some seven years. Ms. Chen reviewed energy engineering studies, economic feasibility studies for both building energy efficiency projects and renewable energy projects, and Life Cycle Cost Analyses. She has authored grant proposals and has established guidelines for the Bureau on how to conduct and review engineering studies. As EPTT Section¹s Executive Officer, she is responsible for the development and implementation of Iowa¹s renewable energy programs, the state¹s energy emergency preparedness efforts, the residential energy management program, the agricultural energy management program, and energy-related environmental impact assessment activities. Ms. Chen is a registered professional mechanical engineer, and has a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and Ph.D. in engineering. Amber Hard is the Advocate for the Iowa Public Interest Research Group, Iowa PIRG. Iowa PIRG is a non-profit, non-partisan public interest research and advocacy organization with members across the state. Amber Hard began working for the PIRG's as a summer citizen outreach director for Illinois PIRG in 1996. Upon graduating from the College of William and Mary in Virginia with a degree in Psychology and Environmental Studies in 1998, Amber moved to Des Moines to develop and direct Iowa PIRG's state and national advocacy work.
