The Iowa Renewable Energy Association (I-Renew) is having an Open House Saturday, April 14, 2001, from 1-4 p.m. at 101 West Mississippi Drive, Suite 500, Muscatine, IA (The Hotel Muscatine Building). The Open House is a fun opportunity for the general public to come and learn about energy efficiency and renewable energy. On Display will be the newly solarized I-Renew office, the solar traveler (a mobile 24 panel photovoltaic array), an antique wind turbine, solar cookers and informational displays covering solar, wind, strawbale, geothermal and energy efficiency. Local participation includes: John Root with the Energize Muscatine Program, ACME Materials Co. with an energy efficient foundation system, Budget Lighting Inc. with energy efficient lighting, Direct Maytag with energy efficient appliances, Rural Housing Institute with SIPS (Structural Integrated Panel System), Sears with energy efficient appliances, Svoboda Plumbing & Heating with geothermal and Iowa Heat Pump Association information, and the Muscatine High School Electrathon Team with their electric vehicle. I-Renew is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting education about and implementation of renewable energy and energy conservation in Iowa. The purpose of the open house is to inform the local community of our location and our availability as a local resource to them.
