They are the heart of our agricultural heritage. For over a century they have been a dominant feature of our landscape. In the past decades, due to changes in farming practices and the cost of maintenance, many beautiful barns are disappearing at alarming rates. We need to save our barns. Understanding and appreciating our past can prepare us for the future. Old barns can often be modified for new uses in ways that are economically wise. We must take responsibility for saving our barns.
