Posted by Jane Clark DNR HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING ON MANURE MANAGEMENT PLANS DES MOINES - The DNR is seeking public comments on a proposed deadline of Aug. 21, 2001, to submit overdue manure management plans. Any required plans submitted after the deadline would have to be approved before the producer could apply manure. Current state rules allow producers to apply manure without an approved plan provided they have submitted their plan to the DNR. The DNR will hold a public hearing on July 3, 2001, at 1:00 p.m., in the 5th Floor Conference Room of the Wallace building in Des Moines. Written comments should be sent by July 3 addressed to Amy Rossow, IDNR, Wallace Building, 502 E. 9th St., Des Moines, IA 50319-0034 or faxed to (515) 281-8895. Almost all confinement feeding operations with more than 200,000 pounds of animal weight capacity (400,000 pounds for bovine) are required to submit manure management plans. The DNR has forms available on their website at http://www.state.ia.us/government/dnr/. For more information, contact Wayne Gieselman, coordinator of the DNR animal feeding operations program, at (515) 281-5817. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For SC email list T-and-C, send: GET TERMS-AND-CONDITIONS.CURRENT to [log in to unmask]
