I attended the general (all waterbodies) meeting on Jan. 14, and the DNR did an excellent job of explaining the TMDL process and talking about the waterbodies that will be considered this year. I highly recommend attending a meeting, especially if it is about a waterbody near your home. According to Merritt, "early involvement by concerned citizens is the best ingredient for a good TMDL cleanup plan!" The agenda for the meetings will include an explanation of the TMDL process in general, an explanation of the impairment for the waterbody of concern, an explanation of what the public can expect from the DNR over the next several months with respect to the development of the TMDL, and an opportunity to ask questions and offer comments.
