This is a reissue of the earlier recruitment announcement and a extended deadline for applications to March 11, 2002 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO ***NEW*** REGIONAL CONSERVATION STRATEGY TEAM The Conservation Governance Committee (CGC) is soliciting nominations for a new strategy team, the Regional Conservation Strategy Team (RCST). This is your opportunity to become part of a brand new strategy team that will help guide and develop to its full potential the Sierra Club's regional conservation work across the country. If you would like to nominate yourself, please complete the application below and send it to Connie Wilbert by e-mail ([log in to unmask]), or mail (705 S. 22nd St., Laramie WY 82070). If you want to nominate someone else, please (a) forward this message to that person with your suggestion that they apply and (b) send Connie their name, email address, and a brief description. Please feel free to post this call for nominations to Club notice and information lists, being careful not to duplicate postings. Completed responses are due March 11, 2002. OVERVIEW OF THE RCST The Board of Directors of the Sierra Club, in November 2001, instructed the CGC to form a new strategy team to oversee the Sierra Club's volunteer regional conservation work. The RCST will work directly with Regional Conservation Committees (RCCs), Ecoregion Task Forces, and other regional entities as appropriate. They will review, pre-approve, and evaluate the annual workplans of these entities, allocate budgets to them (within the overall budget allocation approved by the CGC), troubleshoot regional problems (both organizational and conservation), assist in communication and coordination between regional entities and national strategy teams and campaign committees as needed, and generally support regional conservation entities in their work. At the end of the year, the RCST will work with regional entities to evaluate their program's performance. The RCST will report directly to the CGC, following the same reporting and budgeting schedule and format as other strategy teams. The CGC will appoint members to the RCST for two-year terms. Maximum continuous service will be three consecutive two-year terms. Members will participate in conference calls and communicate regularly by e-mail, and will meet once a year or as needed. This is a working committee, not an advisory committee, and each member will take on specific projects to carry out the committee's charge. The RCST will include regular staff participation. QUALIFICATIONS For the RCST, the CGC is looking for candidates with: - solid experience in regional conservation work, including campaign strategizing and/or familiarity with the Club's planning matrix, message development and press relations, grassroots organizing, and coalition building - willingness and ability to work cooperatively with people holding differing perspectives on the best strategies for the Club to follow - sufficient flexibility in time commitments to allow full volunteer participation in this committee - experience or familiarity with the Club's regional and national structure - access to e-mail RCST members may not simultaneously serve on an RCC or an ecoregion task force. ************************************************************* NOMINATION FORM Send completed form to Connie Wilbert by e-mail ([log in to unmask]), or by U.S. mail (705 S. 22nd St., Laramie WY 82070).
