There is nothing that needs to be done right now. Senator Harkins staff
assured me that the Corps will not get funded for this expansion in the
2003. It is the year 2004 that we will have to watch.

This issue is a priority for me. I have talked to my state senator and
state representative because there were resolutions before the Iowa
Legislature. Those resolutions have some importance but very little
consequences. They prove there are people out there that want to use these
rivers for shipping and they are working hard to make sure that happens.

There will be a regional Sierra Club meeting on this issue in LaCross WI
on June 22 and 23. You can mark those dates on our calendar and when the
final notices come out consider if you would like to come.
