ACTION JACKSON Wednesday, April 17, 2002 The Central Iowa Sierra Program will begin at 7:30 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, located between 37th and 38th on Cottage Grove in Des Moines. Bob Jackson lives south of the Des Moines area on his Iowa "ranch" where he raises bison. He is also an outspoken Yellowstone National Park backcountry ranger. For his program Wednesday night, he might talk about his experiences at Yellowstone and his legal battles of the last few years trying to protect the grizzly bear, or he might tell about his experiences raising bison. From a news story earlier this year: Like blood or sinew, Yellowstone National Park is part of Bob Jackson. A seasonal park ranger since 1969 and a ranger in the Bridger Teton Wilderness since 1972, Jackson often feels most at home amidst the birds and animals, under the changing skies and shifting clouds on the 500-square-mile stretch of God's country far from any road or civilization.
