Iowans are encouraged to get outside April 20 through 22 and help take care of everyone's favorite planet. Although Earth Day is officially on Monday, April 22, most activities are planned for Saturday, April 20. In Northeast Iowa, the White Pine Group of the Sierra Club is hosting a prairie rescue at the Mines of Spain Recreation Area in Dubuque. A coalition of Iowa conservation groups will help "rescue" prairie sites from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, April 20. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 AM at the E.B. In the Quad Cities, the Eagle View Group of the Sierra Club will clean up its River Mile of the Mississippi River in Moline, IL. In Central Iowa, the Central Iowa Group of the Sierra Club will participate in several events sponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Earth Day Prairie Rescue events are scheduled from 9 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, April 20, in various locations in Polk, Jasper, Webster, Guthrie, Warren, and Marion counties.
