Subj: Testimony on highway expansion before Congress Date: 02-05-22 17:03:18 EDT From: [log in to unmask] (Eric Bruun) Sender: [log in to unmask] (Sierra Club Forum on Transportation Issues) Reply-to: [log in to unmask] (Sierra Club Forum on Transportation Issues) To: [log in to unmask] The bulk of the testimony comes from road builders, manufacturers, etc. Guess what? They favor more road building. This is like asking weapons manufacturers what our defense policy should be. I think there is some really alarming testimony here. The gist is that the environmentalists have to finally get out of the way, because we can not wait any longer. Much as the gas tax should be increased, I am glad the gas tax is not increased, as it would probably just accelerate expansion of highways. We really need to get rid of the state constitutional requirements to use gas taxes on roads.
