Friends: One of the best ways to increase awareness of natural resources issues - is to take short field trips or tours. Away from phones and the office setting - to examine issues on the group in an unstructured way to allow discussion. The DNR Forestry is hosting two such tours: On July 24th starting at Squaw Creek County Park just outside Cedar Rapids - a "Firewise Natural Resources Management Tour" will examine firewise planning, prescribed fire use, needs and issues. The tour costs $20/person which covers a charter bus and boxed lunch. On July 25th, starting at the University of Iowa Campus a "Invasive Species Tour" will be held of the Iowa City-Cedar Rapids-Lake McBride areas to examine plants, insects, animals and other invasive issues, management and monitoring efforts and control options. The invasive tour is also $20/person which covers the bus and boxed lunch. Hope you can join us for one or both tours - and if possible spread the word to others about the events. thanks, John Walkowiak, Iowa DNR Email John for more information and to register: [log in to unmask] forwarded by Erin Jordahl Director, Iowa Chapter Sierra Club 3839 Merle Hay Road, Suite 280 Des Moines, IA 50310 515-277-8868 [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask]
