You'll walk back in time to learn about the history of Iowa's tallgrass prairie. You'll even see an old-time covered wagon and get a glimpse of life on the prairie through the eyes of a visitor from the past. From birds to bugs, plantings and seed collecting you'll learn all aspects of Iowa's most endangered habitat. This is a great chance to investigate prairie plant identification and learn the latest techniques in bringing back the lost prairie. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Polk County Conservation Board, Sierra Club (Central Iowa Group) and the Iowa Prairie Network have come together to offer this training day on the prairie. The workshop will begin at 10 AM and run to 3 PM. Come for the day or just part of the day, you can even bring the kids.
