Sierra Club's Annual Dinner--------------------
Award Ceremony
and
Silent Auction
The Sierra Club's Annual Dinner is just a month away. The dinner will feature an excellent menu of locally grown and organic food prepared by chefs from three outstanding Iowa City restaurants; The Red Avocado, Devotay & Adagio.
In addition keynote speaker, Ronnie Cummins, National Director of the Organic Consumers Association, and co-author of Genetically Engineered Food: A Self-defense Guide for Consumers, will enlighten us on the status of organic farming and the risks of GE foods.
Please join us for this wonderful dinner event which includes the Sierra Club Iowa Chapter Awards Ceremony, our Silent Auction fundraiser, local farm displays and great environmental activist comraderie!
The event will be held on Saturday, October 12th, in Iowa City at the Wesley Center Foundation,120 N. Dubuque St., (near downtown). Festivities begin at 6 pm. - ticket ordering and silent auction information is below.

SILENT AUCTION
Please donate an item, service or gift certificate to our silent auction. Proceeds will go to the Sierra Club Iowa Chapter to help us expand our programs to preserve and protect the environment.
The Iowa Chapter is making auction items available to those who will not be able to make the Annual Dinner, though dinner attendees will have the last word on highest bid. The auction item list is available online at: http://iowa.sierraclub.org/chapcaln.html . Instructions for making email bids is posted at this site.
The following list of donation possibilities may help spark an idea for what you might give:
Autographed pictures, books, shirts, etc.; fresh or canned garden produce; baked items; farm tours; local foods; catered dinners; organic gardening/prairie restoration classes; newsletter/magazine subscriptions; community supported agriculture; memberships; plants; native prairie or vegetable seeds; bulbs; specialty farm products (honey, soaps, dried arrangements);gift certificates for just about anything!; bat houses; bird nest boxes; bird feeders & baths; binoculars; nature identification books - birds, insects, rocks & plants; yard decorations (flower pots, decorative trellises); gardening tools; camping gear; storytelling sessions for children; outdoor adventure guiding; vacation cabin. Use your imagination.
