"This Will Not Stand"
--George W. Bush's father after Saddam Hussien
invaded Kuwait in the early 1990's indicating his intention
to use military force against Iraq.

Dearest Sierra Club Members,
The following is a reply to a previous posting on the
Leopold listserve asking readers to support a Senate
filibuster in order to prevent President Bush from having a
free hand to attack Iraq in an unprovoked war. The
relevence of this issue to environmental protection should
be obvious: George W. Bush has shown himself to be to be
the worst advocate for the environment in US history. If he
is allowed to launch this multi-billion dollar war
involving hundreds of thousands US troops, there will
little else on the minds of Americans (and in the news).
And we might as well be selling popcorn at Wal-Mart. As for
me, I will resist this insanity until it stops. This will
not stand!
Therefore, I urge you to consider making this issue your
number one legislative/activist priority in the next 24-36
hours: call early and often: 800-839-5276 GETS YOU THROUGH
TO THE SENATE SWITCHBOARD. Tell your elected leaders
regarding the President's war: "THIS WE'LL NOT STAND"!
