To All: (THIS IS A CORRECTED LIST OF BILLS FROM A CORRECTED FIND/SORT IN MY DATABASE. SORRY FOR THE WRONG LIST EARLIER.) Below are the bills introduced so far which I have included in my database of tracking for Sierra Club, Iowa Chapter. You should be able to click on the weblink and it will take you to the bill text if you want to see that. Obviously not much has happened on most of them, except for the first one, SF 36, which was the supplemental appopriation bill of this current FY 2003. It included all the intended supplementals with the exception of Title XIX Medicaid. The Medicaid supplemental will come in a separate bill later in the session, as they wanted to wait to get a more precise figure on what it needs to be. No controversy about doing a Medicaid Supplemental, just needing the lastest estimate for most accurate appropriation. Look for it to happen in early to mid-April. I am analyzing the Governoršs Budget Recommendations for FY 2004, which he revealed on Friday, and the Fiscal Bureau has now issued its first analysis. I will write more on that in the next couple of days. Suffice to say for now it is a squeaky budget in most areas. More later. I will also include my observations on the Session so far. It has been a slow start, as anticipated, with so many new members and slow early bill-drafting. More later.
