A coalition interested in supporting Clean Elections/Campaign Finance Reform is meeting at the Capitol each week. It comprises Ecumenical Ministries, the League of Women Voter of Iowa, Sierra Club, Iowa Farmers Union, Iowa Citizens Action Network, Iowa Trial Lawyers, Iowa Conference of the United Methodist Church, and Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement.
On Wednesday, February 26, from 11:30-1:30 we will have a display in the 1st floor Rotunda to educate legislators about the Clean Election system. Come and join us and talk to legislators.
Our discussions will be guided by:
PRINCIPLES OF CLEAN MONEY/CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM
Restore the principle of "one person, one vote" to elections.
Cut the influence of special interest money on candidates, elections and lawmaking.
Free candidates from the money chase so they can concentrate on issues and constituents.
Give all qualified people an equal opportunity to run for office.
Reduce the escalating cost of running for office.
