From Jane Clark: Some of you have asked how to contribute to Iowa Sierra Club to help meet Greg Nepstad's challenge. Here is that information. CONTRIBUTE TO IOWA CHAPTER SUPPORT IN 2003! There are three ways to contribute to Sierra Club, Iowa Chapter. Non-Tax Deductible Because we try to shape the political process of our nation and state on the side of nature in matters affecting the environment, the Sierra Club is an IRS 501(c)4, not for profit, non-charitable organization, meaning that donors to the Sierra Club in this category do not receive a tax deduction for their contributions. These contributions and gifts to the Sierra Club are not tax-deductible; they support our effective, citizen-based advocacy and lobbying programs. We have confidence that it is worth some investment, sans tax benefit, for the Iowa Chapter to collectively exercise political muscle in our own legislature. Indeed, we think it is absolutely necessary. Make checks payable to: Sierra Club Iowa Chapter (in support of advocacy and legislative efforts and is not tax-deductible) Tax Deductible The Sierra Club Foundation is an IRS 501(c)3, not for profit, charitable organization and all contributions to The Sierra Club Foundation are tax deductible. These activities are limited to public interest education, research, and legal actions. Iowa Chapter does maintain an account with The Sierra Club Foundation from which we may draw for the above listed activities. Our chapter newsletter is partially funded in this manner, and we leverage some of these funds with other environmental groups in Iowa.
