PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY WITHIN THE SIERRA CLUB
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR DIRECTORS FOR THE 2004 SIERRA CLUB ELECTION
The Nominating Committee is seeking Sierra Club leaders with a broad
array of talents and perspectives to run as candidates for the Board of
Directors in the 2004 National Sierra Club Election.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, effective leader who has a clear
vision for the Sierra Club?s future and a proven capacity to work with
people to achieve goals and resolve problems. Women and minorities are
strongly encouraged to apply.
If you are interested, or know of someone who is qualified, please contact
any member of the Nominating Committee (listed below), preferably by July
1.
We encourage all potential candidates to participate in the nomination
process by contacting members of the Nominating Committee to express their
interest. In addition to the nomination process, the Sierra Club bylaws
allow for a petition process, which includes a requirement of notification
and a minimum number of member signatures to qualify for the ballot, as
specified in the bylaws and standing rules.
A questionnaire will be sent to all persons who request one.
Letters of inquiry will be sent to those whose names are suggested. After
reviewing returned questionnaires, the Nominating Committee will select a
pool of applicants for personal interviews. Interviews will be done in
September, and if necessary, in November. To be considered for September
interviews, completed questionnaires must be received by the Nominating
Committee by July 13, 2003.
The final candidates selected by the Committee for the election will be
announced at the November 2003 Board meeting.
