Thank-you for the bringing this article to our attention & for your continuing Sierra Club support.
I strongly agree with the suggestion that the growth hormones & antibiotics that are being routinely fed to animals from birth & then subsequently consumed by humans are a major contributing factor in the rapid rise of human chronic illness & disease. It goes beyond irresponsibility for Monsanto to treat animals like this just to deepen their profit margin, & becomes unconscionable when we consider the toll it is taking in human health. Hormones & synthetic drugs in our food & water supply are tragically translating into escalating human suffering & premature death. I say tragic because for the most part, it is preventable.
The hormonal, pharmaceutical drug, & bacteria levels in our ground water are unacceptable & dangerous. Just in Iowa nearly 200 waterways are considered sufficiently polluted to warrent not using them. The extemely high estrogen levels found in Lake Mead have already altered the reproductive systems of the fish... . Lake Mead being the main source of human drinking water for 5 states. Is it any wonder doctors report an MS epidemic in Colorado? Is it any wonder we have 80+ new autoimmune conditions today that didnt exist even 25 years ago?
Our hormones are out of balance today on a large scale in the general population. Yes, Monsanto has a tremendous amount of clout. The chemical industry is huge. Next to oil, the number 2 industry in the world. So is the trillion dollar Food Industry. We need to do everything we can to fight them & others like them and support those research & development companies like Mannatech, Inc & Mannarelief instead. There is a world-wide groundswelling of integrity & stewardship found in Mannatechs grassroots movement. I am confident that this Earth will survive with other companies of equally high standards & consciousness in the future. The huge chemical industries are in for the battle of their life with the Truth & God on our side!
Sincerely,
Sharon Johnson
