Iowa Environmental Council seeks Director of Communications
The Iowa Environmental Council is seeking a full-time Director of
Communications. The IEC is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization
working to protect Iowa's natural environment through shaping public
policy, research and education, coalition-building, and advocacy.
Qualifications: We are looking for a person who is the right "fit"
within our staff. This person should have education and experience in
communications, public relations, public education, and media
relations. Additional desirable qualifications include experience in
lobbying, event planning, membership development, grant-writing, and
natural resources interpretation.
Position Description: Responsibilities include developing
organizational communication strategy, writing media releases and IEC
publication materials, maintaining positive media relations,
maintaining Iowa Conservation Advocates' and Leaders' Link (I-CALL)
program (a natural resources advocacy communications system), and
leading event planning. Position will also participate with other IEC
staff on strategic planning, grant-writing, and organizational
development strategy.
Compensation and benefits: The salary range is $30,000 - $38,000 with
full benefits including health, life, dental, and long-term
disability insurance, paid vacation and holidays, and retirement plan.
