Camp Wellstone Training Program
Cedar Rapids, Iowa
*Registration Deadline Extended: Monday, March 1 at 5 PM*

Limited space is still available, so don't miss this exciting opportunity to
join us March 5-7, 2004 for the Camp Wellstone political action training in
Cedar Rapids, Iowa conducted by Wellstone Action's Organizing and Campaign
Training Center. Camp Wellstone-Iowa is a Friday afternoon through Sunday
training session that introduces participants to the philosophy, strategies
and tactics of winning progressive, grassroots issue, political and
electoral action.

This Camp Wellstone training is for anyone who wants to learn effective
grassroots political and organizing skills, and particularly for people
looking for jobs in politics in 2004. The Camps draw heavily from the
Wellstone approach, an inspiring and motivating brand of politics that can
be a part of rebuilding progressive politics in this country.

The Iowa Camp Wellstone date is also sponsored by America Coming Together
(ACT), an organization working to take back our country in 2004 and beyond.
ACT was founded in 2003 to educate, register and mobilize voters. ACT is
running a massive effort in Iowa to activate hundreds of thousands of new
voters in this election and beyond and is looking for people to join their
efforts.

Citizen activists, candidates for office, campaign workers, volunteers and
those interested in jobs in politics in 2004 are welcome at Camp Wellstone.
The Camp runs in three separate tracks:

Citizen Activism, Advocacy and Organizing
This track is designed to give you insights, lessons, and strategies that
can positively inform and shape community and issue organizing efforts.
Citizen Activism is infused with applicable community organizing principles
and practical skills that will help in all walks of advocacy and activism.
We recommend this track for individuals who want to effect change in their
community or get involved in community or issue organizing.

Grassroots Campaigns and Elections: For Candidates, Workers and Volunteers
This track is designed to give you and your election team the modern
management fundamentals necessary to be successful at the grassroots level.
Topics will include voter contact programs, budgeting, planning,
recruitment, and the different roles you can play on a campaign. You will
learn the skills that are essential to putting your candidate or local team
in the best position to win. This track is designed for those who would
like to improve their campaign skills through state-of-the-art strategies.

Campaign Organizing: Working with ACT to Change America
This track covers the fundamentals of political campaign management this
year, covering the basics of fundraising, field organizing, media relations,
volunteer coordination, get-out-the-vote, targeting, and the latest campaign
technology. Attendees will be divided into teams to write and present
components of a campaign plan that will be critiqued by local and nationally
known political professionals. This is the right track for those who are
interested in being considered for a paid position with ACT in the upcoming
electoral campaign efforts.
