Volunteers Needed for
Polk County Water Quality Snapshot
Wednesday May 26, 2004
9:30 am to 3:00 pm
Izaak Walton League Clubhouse Patio
4343 George Flagg Parkway (formerly Valley Drive)
Sample kits and monitoring instructions will be provided, along with a brief
training session. Volunteers will collect samples from approximately 50
sites selected on small streams throughout the county. The U.S. Geological
Survey Bureau will also be sampling the same day on the Des Moines and
Raccoon Rivers.

Return samples and data sheets to the Izaak Walton League
..by 3:00 pm.
No prior training is required, but individuals trained in the IOWATER
volunteer monitoring program are especially encouraged to participate.
Groups currently involved are IOWATER, Iowa Environmental Council, Des
Moines Water Works, Metro Waste Authority, U.S. Geological Survey, Izaak
Walton League, Urban Partnership, Des Moines Parks and Recreation, City of
Des Moines, City of Johnston, City of Ankeny, 1000 Friends of Iowa, and the
USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
