Jim Hightower

National radio commentator, writer, public speaker, and author of Thieves In High Places: They've Stolen Our Country and It's Time to Take It Back, Jim Hightower has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers That Ought To Be - consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just-plain-folks.

John Ikerd

John Ikerd Professor Emeritus of Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri Columbia.  Dr. Ikerd has written numerous papers and journal articles, making him one of the foremost in his field.  He is a vital proponent of sustainable agriculture.

 

David Kline, with special introduction by Wendell Berry

David Kline is a farmer, naturalist, and writer; he and his family farm 120 acres and operate a 40-cow organic dairy near Mt. Hope, Ohio.  Kline is the author of Great Possessions: An Amish Farmer’s Journal and Scratching the Woodchuck: Nature on an Amish Farm; he is also an editor of Farming Magazine. 

 

            Tod Murphy

Tod Murphy is the founder of the Farmers Diner, a Vermont diner that spends more than 70 percent of all its food dollars on local farmers and small-scale producers.  The mission of the Farmers Diner is to support rural economic vitality, to create new farms, and to create new opportunities for existing farms.   With the diner, Tod is seeking to recreate a robust infrastructure that supports local farmers and food producers.  For more information, visit www.farmersdiner.com.
