The Sierra Club Iowa Chapter has an exciting new volunteer opportunity for everyone looking for fun and social ways to get involved in our work and make even more of a difference - we will be hosting activist nights twice a month in our Des Moines office. And we need your help to make them work! The volunteer activities will vary from night to night, but may include preparing for events, helping with mailings, writing letters to the editor about our campaign issues, making phone calls to recruit members for events, and grassroots skills trainings. From holding Iowa legislators and other decision-makers accountable for the environmental impacts of their policies, to stopping the Bush administration's assaults on our air and water, there has never been a more important time for Sierra Club members to get involved and demonstrate our collective power - I hope you will join us! We have four activist nights scheduled so far - if you're interested, but these times don't work for you, let me know: Monday, August 9th, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, August 25th, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 7th, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, September 23rd, 7-9 p.m. All activist nights will be held at our office, 3839 Merle Hay Road, Suite 280 (in Merle Hay Mart, across from Merle Hay Mall) Feel free to invite anyone interested in environmental protection. Give me a call or email me to RSVP or if you have any questions. Hope to see you soon, Tarah Heinzen Sierra Club Conservation Organizer 3839 Merle Hay Road, Suite 280 Des Moines, IA 50310 (515) 251-3995 [log in to unmask] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Make your voice heard!
