Finally, the Bush administration is coming back to the Des Moines area! When Bush came to Des Moines in April, we had a very successful demonstration downtown, turning out nearly 20 Sierrans and getting great media coverage of the Bush administration's bad environmental record. Please help us make tomorrow's event as successful! What: Protest the administration's environmental record while Cheney rallies at 7-Flags Health Club and Event Center in Clive. When: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tomorrow (Tuesday, August 10th) Where: Cheney will be speaking "mid-day" at 7-Flags Health Club and Event Center, at 2100 NW 100th Street in Clive. Meet up at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and 100th Street at 10:15 and we will go as close as we can get from there, or look for Sierra Club signs and banners close to the event at or after 10:30. Our message will focus on clean air and water, and the need for strong environmental protections (not just fancy health clubs) to have strong, healthy communities. We'll be preparing for the event at tonight's first-ever Iowa Chapter Activist Night in the Sierra Club office (address below). Even if you can't come tomorrow, come tonight and help make signs and phone calls! Call or email with any questions, and look out for another announcement later this week - Bush is expected to return to Sioux City this Saturday, and we may have transportation available from Des Moines!
