Thank you for the information. I was very impressed by
the article in the March April Issue of the Sierra, "Something
Wonderful Happens When You Plant a Seed" about the first
African Woman, Wangari Maathan, to be honored by receiving the
Nobel Peace Prize, and have made copies to be sent to some of my
friends. As you know the issue of global warming which is also an
important issue was not even discussed in the last election even though
it is of critical importance for the children of the future.
Planting trees is ever so much better than our mad rush for oil for
gasoline in our fuel inefficient cars. The first would slow
down global warming and the second is hastening its approach. I am
82 years old and would be interested in going to the meeting on March 12
@ 1:30-3:30 PM, if you would send me directions as to how to get to the
Urbandale Public Library from Nevada going south on I-35 to Des
Moines.

Tomorrow, Thursday the 24th,
Sierra Club is having an Activist Night to get
ready for two exciting March events:
March 2nd, 8pm - Viewing and discussion of the Sierra Club's new
"True Cost
of Food" video. This event will be at the Urbandale public library,
meeting
room B. We'll have sustainable snacks and great information on
earth-friendly eating.
March 12, 1:30-3:30pm - Viewing of the Sierra Club's new film, "Oil
on Ice,"
about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This event will also be at
the
Urbandale library, in meeting room A.
Both events should be great, and we need some volunteers to help get
the
word out. Hope to see you tomorrow night at the Sierra Club office,
3839
Merle Hay Road, Suite 280, in Des Moines.

PS If you'd like to help, but can't make it tomorrow, we also need
volunteers on Monday, February 28th from 6:30-8:30pm, same
place.
